| YM is based around gatherings of approximately 15 youth meeting on Sunday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and expands to large events several times a year. | |
| The Associate Directors, coordinators, teens, adult volunteers and parents all work together to create dynamic educational, social, and service experiences for our youth. |

| We are truly blessed to have many volunteers in our Faith Formation program. The volunteers who gift us with their time and talent as catechists, youth leaders and aides are indeed GIFTS from God to those with whom they share their faith. Passing on the faith is what we are about. Our volunteers are willing to take the leadership role to share their faith with our children and youth. Please consider the ministry of catechist, youth leader, or aide -- working with a group, sharing your gifts and receiving the gifts the children have to give. | ||||

A web-based ministry for youth focused on the traditions, life, and mission of the Catholic faith community. As a informational resource, Disciples Now provides opportunities to learn, to discuss, and to celebrate the challenges of discipleship in the context of daily life.
YM Small Groups
Our Sunday evening YM small groups work to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. We provide opportunities to experience belonging, to enjoy fellowship with peers, to explore teen topics, to work together for justice and peace, to pray together, to come to know the work of God, to worship and celebrate together.
We provide and share, in partnership with the family, a curriculum that focuses on what it means to be a Christian in the Catholic tradition and to know and experience the love of God. Catechetical focus is on God the Creator and Life-giver, Jesus as Savior and Friend and the Presence of the Spirit as Teacher and Guide.
We are constantly searching for ways to enhance our YM program. This year we are including more Bible study, Catholic beliefs and traditions into our small groups.
YM Retreats
To assist our youth in deepening their relationship with God through spiritual development, our Youth Ministry Retreat Team coordinates many opportunities for youth to participate in times of prayer, fellowship and spiritual growth. Watch for flyers announcing these experiences.
Retreats are an integral component of YM and faith formation. They encourage community building not only with our parish, but the Catholic community at large. They give our youth time to reflect on their lives and their personal relationship with God, and the hope and trust only faith provides. This year, retreats will consist of youth from our parish, MACY (Midland Area Catholic Youth) and the entire Diocese of Saginaw. Retreat attendance is an expectation of YM at Blessed Sacrament.
YM Adventures
YM Adventures is a great way to meet new people and have fun too. 'Adventure' is defined as an exciting undertaking; an unusual, stirring experience; a venture. What better way to explain our faith journey and our interaction with others than at social events? The idea is that our faith, and lives are an adventure. Parents and youth interested in being part of the "Adventure" team please contact the Faith Formation Office at 835-6777x231.
Watch for details about more events to come! Have an idea you didn't see listed? Join our Adventure Team and make it happen! Our events are well attended by teens of Blessed Sacrament and their friends; however, we have been known to scramble at the last minute to find enough drivers and/or chaperones.
Parents please consider chaperoning an event, join in the 'Adventure' with our youth! Check out the Driver & Chaperone Guidelines.

Reachin' Out
Blessed Sacrament Youth Outreach Newsletter
February 25, 2008
So many times people ask, what can I do to make a difference? How can I reach out to those in our community (and beyond) who need a helping hand? Our youth ministry outreach program provides such opportunities.
Small groups are encouraged to participate in local outreach projects. Youth participating in small groups learn what it means to live out their faith. There are many ways to do this such as: raking yards or winterizing homes for people who are unable to do so, food drives, adopting a family at Christmas and many more opportunities.
Youth (9th- 12th grade) who are interested in extended service projects can participate in our weeklong mission trip as a member of our outreach team. We do a variety of things, including repairing/building homes, providing daycare or teaching bible school. We have traveled to Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ontario, the Dominican Republic and Saginaw.
Although our Outreach Team targets teens to participate in these projects, we need adults to help chaperone, drive and coordinate/work at our community building activities (e.g. Euk-a-thon, pancake breakfast, chili dinner, etc.).
If you are interested in participating as a youth/adult please contact Mary Clarke at 835-6777x231.
Community Builders
The Outreach team will be collecting Bottles and Cans again this year. There are barrels located at the entrances to the parish center designated for "Bottles and Cans" (not trash!). We appreciate your bottle and can donations.
YM Ministries
Choosing a ministry is a wonderful opportunity for you to share your interest and talents with your church community. Blessed Sacrament Parish is a community that worships and shares many aspects of life together. We attempt to help each other in times of need in the parish, the local community and beyond our city, diocese and state. We invite you to think about which ministry you would enjoy and which ministry would enable you to grow.
| We WELCOME YOU to this 'gift of ministry' and encourage you to participate. | |
