BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH COMMUNITY
|
All of the materials in the Parish Resource Center have been either re-cataloged or added to the existing catalog!
In the Circulating Library, we now have:
Over 1500 books
Over 260 videos
And 13 Audio Tapes
The new (hard copy) catalog for the Parish Circulating Library has three options for searching:
By Author
By Subject
By Title
You can find the catalog books on the long counter to the left as you enter the Resource Center.
The cataloging project was completed with the help of the Faith Formation Office professionals, Mary Ann Stackable and Lorraine Beacom as well as the members of the Library Committee: Jen Trager (chair), Kathy Doering, Dave Sierawski, Maria Ngo, Marion Schmidt and Marie Mahoney.
The Resource Center
The Resource Center is located off the main hallway of the Parish Center and contains ALL of the resources currently available to parishioners, catechists and other volunteers. When you enter the Resource Center, please look UP at the wall above the shelving. You'll see signs for the four sections of the Resource Center:
- Children's catechetical materials
- Youth catechetical materials
- Reserve materials
- The Circulating Library
Only books, videos and audio materials from the Circulating Library may be borrowed by parishioners.
The catechetical materials are for the use of catechists and other Religious Education volunteers ONLY. Reserve materials are never to be removed from the room but anyone may read these materials while in the Resource Center. Many of the Reserve materials are expensive commentaries and other resource books as well as books no longer in print, making them costly or even impossible to replace.
A GREAT Place to Relax:
The Resource Center has a wonderful couch, tables and chairs for reading, doing research, or homework. The couch is perfect for sharing a storybook with one of your children!
The Resource Center is open when the Parish Center is open: Monday - Friday, 8:30-9:00pm and on Sundays when we have Faith Formation classes or Coffee and Donuts.
How to use the Circulating Library:
All books, videos and audio tapes are shelved under 8 major headings and then sub-headings. The major headings are: Saints, Spirituality, Church/Theology, Morality/Social Justice, Life Issues, Sacraments/Liturgy, Scripture and Fiction (which also includes some inspirational books). The sub-headings are clearly marked on the shelves.
Videos are found in two places: in the middle video cabinet under the long counter or across the room near the sink counter. Audio tapes are on the top shelf of the video shelving near the sink counter.
Reminders:
- Books can be borrowed for one month. Audio and video materials must be returned in one week.
- To borrow a book, video or audio tape, find the card pocket, take out the card and write your name, the date and your phone number on the card. Place the card in the little box by the book drop box on the long counter. If the book or audio/video tape is overdue, we'll give you a call reminding you to bring it back in so someone else can have the chance to borrow it.
- When you return your book, please place it in the drop box on the long counter. Please do NOT re-shelve any library materials for us! We track all of the materials borrowed from the library.
If you have any questions about the Library or Resource Center, please call Joan Brausch at 835-6777, ext. 233 OR you can email me at: joanb@blessed-midland.org
PLEASE RETURN YOUR BOOKS AND VIDEOS ON TIME!! THANKS!
