This Year's Theme Is:
Take the Plunge
Dive Deep
Into God's Word

We have 3 assemblies during regular faith formation hours and a mini mission in the evenings on February 20 & 21. The mini mission includes sessions for adults & teens and one for children.

We Celebrate:
Our Baptismal Call and the Living Water of Eternal Life. We know and love our God through God's Word and we understand that we are stewards of all God's gifts. We share those gifts with others. One way to do this is through our Coin Collection: Water to live. (Our donation will help those without clean water systems.)

THANK YOU
Our Faith Formation Programs are truly blessed with awesome volunteers who share their faith with our children and youth. These volunteer "catechists, aides and youth leaders" share the gospel message by inviting our youngsters to respond in faith, prayer, worship and community service.

CATECHIST

Pre-School (4-year olds)
Using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, SEEDS, catechists engage the children in age-appropriate activities that allow them to experience the Gospel through talking, listening, praying and singing out with love and joy!

Pre-School (5-year olds)
Using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies, PROMISE, catechists help the children begin to participate in worship with an active surrounding. Storytelling, prayer, and fun activities relate children's own experiences to the Gospel.

We Believe - Sadlier Publishing [Elementary, grades 1-5]
This curriculum enables the catechist to provide a complete and age-appropriate presentation of our faith. It also helps form children as evangelizers through knowledge, skill development and practice in sharing our faith. Liturgy and social justice is also a component of each lesson.

Ministry Description: Catechists plan and teach a 75 minute session following the course of study. Attend catechist formation sessions offered during the year.

AIDE

Pre-School (4 & 5-year olds) or We Believe (Elementary, Grades 1-5)
Ministry Description: Serves as an extra pair of hands. Assist the catechist in the hands-on activities, getting supplies, copies, etc. An aide doesn't necessarily plan or implement the lesson, but is there every week in a supportive and affirming role.

THE CALL OF THE CATECHIST
"Every baptized Catholic is personally called by the Holy Spirit to make their contribution to the coming of God's Kingdom…At the origin of the catechist's vocation, therefore, apart from the sacraments of baptism and confirmation, there is a specific call from the Holy Spirit. Read the words of the prophet Isaiah 6:8, "Here I am, send me." Spend some time reflecting of these words.

PURPOSE OF CATECHESIS
Catechesis is a Greek term that means to "re-echo" or "re-sound." Used in the context of the mission of the Church, catechesis re-echoes or re-sounds the Good News of Jesus Christ. Catechesis includes the intentional and systematic efforts to enable all ages to grow in faith, lifelong discipleship, and conversion, as well as the whole process of initiation into the faith community. Spend some time in prayer.

If you would like more information, please contact Julie (835-6777, ext. 232.) We have a wonderful catechetical support system, great resources and plenty to make your teaching experience a real adventure!
