Thanksgiving Cereal Collection

Thanksgiving Cereal Collection

It’s that time of year again—our annual Thanksgiving Cereal Collection is here! This cherished tradition helps support families in need within the Midland County area by contributing to the Thanksgiving food baskets distributed throughout the community.

How the Program Works

All donations stay local and are included in the Thanksgiving baskets, which contain food supplies, gift certificates, and homemade cookies. These baskets are provided to families referred by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Midland County Food Assistance Network (MCFAN), and other community agencies. The Thanksgiving basket program is coordinated by Aldersgate Methodist Church, DHHS, and MCFAN, with a goal of supporting 400 families annually.

MCFAN, a non-profit organization established in 1983, acts as a cooperative network of area churches and organizations working together to provide food to families living near or below the Federal poverty line in Midland County. Your cereal donations help meet these needs and ensure that every family can enjoy a special meal on Thanksgiving.

Our Goal: 900 Boxes of Cereal!

This year, we’re aiming to collect 900 boxes of cereal for the baskets. Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios have historically led the race as the top donated cereals, but last year Chex made a strong showing as the runner-up, with Frosted Flakes and Cinnamon Toast Crunch close behind! Which brand will top the charts this year? Let the competition inspire your shopping choices!

Cereal donations can be dropped off at the Faith Formation Office between October 14th and November 18th. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Great Wall of Cereal—a visual representation of the community’s generosity!

Thank you for your continued support and generosity in making this Thanksgiving season special for families in need. Let’s make this year’s cereal collection the best yet!
