Maybe you have a question about the Mass, the sacraments, Scripture, Mary and the saints, prayer, or another part of our Catholic faith. Whether you’re seeking an adult understanding of the Catholic faith, are returning to the Church, you feel God calling you to something more, or just want to learn about Catholicism, you’re invited to join Catholic 101!
Classes will be held throughout the year as repeating series on a specific topic or a one class event. Come to learn more about the Catholic faith in a welcoming and open environment. Together we will explore a different aspect of our Catholic tradition, providing information, encouraging conversation, and making time for questions.
Whether you have been Catholic your whole life, are returning to the Church, or simply want to better understand what Catholics believe and why, you are invited. Come with your questions, your curiosity, and a desire to grow in your understanding of the rich tradition of our faith.
Basics of Catholic Social Teaching
Get ready! We will start with the first theme of Catholic Social Teaching: Life and Dignity of the Human Person in our first class on Monday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. The Catholic Church proclaims that the human life is sacred. The dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. Join us to read scripture, explore Catholic tradition and discuss ways to put what we learn into action. The Catholic Church – Yesterday and Today
Being Catholic is one way of being a disciple of Jesus. That discipleship is shaped by sacraments, rituals and practices, doctrines and dogmas, saints, religious orders, feuds, schisms, and reform movements. Join Norbert Bufka on Thursday, October 1, as he explores how all these elements are connected and how they have shaped the Catholic Church into what it is today.
