The Sweetness of Holiness: Honey, Bees and the Saints

April 15

A Sweet Afternoon Awaits You!

Join us for a delightful and inspiring gathering with Anne Boyd on April 15th, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in the parish center—a warm and uplifting celebration of faith, nature, and creativity.

Immerse yourself in the wondrous world of bees and honey, where sacred stories meet sweet science. Enjoy fragrant honey-infused herbal teas and delicious honey cookies as we explore the rich history of beekeeping and the vital role bees play in God’s creation. You’ll learn how these remarkable creatures carry over 100 times their body weight, travel more than eight miles from their hive, and still find their way home—all while carrying precious pollen to nourish the earth.

We’ll reflect on the life of Saint Ambrose of Milan, whose childhood was marked by a surprising moment: a swarm of bees landed on his infant face, leaving behind honey. His father saw it as a sign of future holiness—fitting for a man whose words would become “a honeycomb” of wisdom and grace.

We’ll also follow the stories of three other inspiring saints whose lives shine with generosity, resilience, and purpose—echoing the quiet diligence of the hive.

To close our time together, we’ll create heartfelt, handmade greeting cards—simple, beautiful, and full of meaning. These “bee-you-tiful” creations are perfect to keep, send, or share with someone special in your life.

As Scripture reminds us: “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” (Proverbs 16:24)
