Knights of Columbus

Knights are committed to making the world a better place for everyone to live in. Our main objective as Catholic men is to live the ways of Christ.

History

The council was chartered in 2004 with 35 members and has grown to about 90 members. We are a Parish based council. Our mission puts its special emphasis on strongly supporting our parish and priest.

Meeting Information

Council meetings are held in the Blessed Sacrament Parish Center the Second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Current Activities We Support

Firewood for Poor
The Knights cuts and split many cords of wood for cancer patients and the poor in need who heat their homes with firewood.

Blood Drives
Several times a year we organize and run blood drives at the parish center.

Soup Suppers
We hold several Soup Suppers fall and winter. We use proceeds to support seminarians studying for the priesthood and parish youth activities.

Parish Picnic
The Knights are the grill masters for the parish picnic, working with other groups to help make this event a fun-filled success each summer.

Other Activities
Other activities include supporting widows and orphans, Holy Cross Children’s Services, CARE, the youth chili cook-off, Right to Life activities, Special Olympics, and all national and state K of C Charities.

Key Drivers for Knights

Faith– As Knights, our faith is our foundation. We support religious outreach and support and promote religious vocations.

Community– Knights participate in drives to help troubled youth. Knights raise money for individuals who are mentally challenged with our annual Tootsie Roll drive. Knights support Special Olympics.

Family– Serving families is what we do. We provide assistance and support when and where needed. The main mission is to take care of the widow and the orphan.

Youth– We conduct youth-based programs such as the Knights of Columbus Basketball Free Throw Championship. We support other activities such as Youth outreach retreats and their annual mission trip.

Fellowship– To be a Knight means to believe in each other as we believe in ourselves. Councils hold activities that foster fraternal bonds between members. Much of our fraternal activity involves the members doing things to support the parish and other charitable work for our community, especially those in need. A favorite of members is to cut firewood in the fall to help those who need wood to heat their homes in winter.
