Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Responds Generously to Support Migrant Workers

Midland, MI — The Social Justice Committee at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church extends heartfelt gratitude to the parish community for their generous response to the recent Migrant Ministry collection. Thanks to this outpouring of support, two full-size trucks were packed with food, personal care items, and clothing for migrant workers and their families in our region.

In a powerful display of solidarity and compassion, parishioners filled two eight-foot tables with food and hygiene products—everything from large boxes of cereal, 20-pound bags of rice, and jugs of olive oil to diapers for children. Clothing donations—new socks, work boots, and gently used garments—overflowed beyond two additional eight-foot tables, filling large boxes and kitchen bags.

Four members of the Social Justice Committee sorted and packed the items, delivering them to the migrant ministry site at St. Boniface, where volunteers maintain a basement pantry and clothing area to serve local migrant families. Last year alone, they supported around 60 families—totaling more than 150 individuals.

“The Blessed Sacrament Social Justice team is very grateful for the generous clothing and food contributions given for our Migrant Ministry collection,” said committee member Eline Morabito. “This effort and generosity is a shining outward expression of Christ’s love and mercy embodied within our parish family.”

The most immediate need remains personal care items, which are distributed as part of prepared care packages for individuals and families.

This remarkable response reflects the words of Jesus: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” The Social Justice Committee thanks the Blessed Sacrament community for living out these words so fully and faithfully.
