About the Role
Are you passionate about walking alongside young people as they grow in faith? Do you have a gift for creating meaningful experiences that inspire middle schoolers to live as disciples of Jesus Christ?
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Coordinator of Middle School Youth Ministry to join our Faith Formation Team. In this role, you’ll design and lead engaging programs that empower young people to deepen their relationship with Christ and become active participants in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic Church.

Classification: Full-Time
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Administration
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Middle School Youth Ministry programming
- Collaborate closely with the Faith Formation Team to bring the parish’s vision to life through catechetical opportunities
- Prepare and manage the Middle School Youth Ministry budget in partnership with the Faith Formation Team Leader
- Attend Parish Staff and Visioning Team meetings, prayer days, and annual planning sessions
Sunday Night Youth Ministry
Volunteer Recruitment & Support
- Recruit, advertise for, and train volunteers to serve as small group leaders
- Ensure all volunteers complete required background checks and VIRTUS training
- Communicate regularly with volunteers, provide lesson materials, and support them during small group time
- Show appreciation to volunteers at Christmas and at the end of the year
Programming
- Maintain and strengthen the Youth Ministry collaboration with Assumption and St. Brigid parishes
- Meet weekly with Youth Ministers from Assumption and St. Brigid to develop curriculum and plan lessons
- Lead large group teaching at each Youth Ministry meeting
- Coordinate service and outreach opportunities, including the Sharing Tree program
- Plan and lead whole-group events such as the Kick-off and Closing celebrations
- Organize fun social activities like the Back-to-School Bash at Valley Lanes, Halloween and Christmas parties, and end-of-year trips (e.g., Cedar Point)
- Plan and supervise retreat opportunities throughout the year
Students & Families
- Serve as a welcoming liaison between families and the parish
- Attend youth events outside of church (sports, recitals, plays, concerts) to build meaningful relationships
- Maintain an updated participant database and communicate with parents weekly via email
- Update the bulletin column weekly and provide pulpit announcements as needed
- Partner with the communications and technology coordinator to promote Middle School events
Confirmation Preparation Program
- Collaborate with Youth Ministers from Assumption and St. Brigid to build the program calendar
- Guide students through two years of Confirmation preparation using the Purpose program from LifeTeen
- Meet weekly with partner Youth Ministers to plan and co-teach lessons
- Create at-home lesson resources for students who miss a session
- Proactively communicate with families well ahead of each Year 1 start date
- Invite eligible students to participate and track attendance and lesson completion
Faith Formation Team & Community Involvement
- Attend weekly Faith Formation Team meetings and lead prayer on a rotating basis
- Participate in team events including Faith Formation Kick-off Mass, Registration Sundays, and the Parish Picnic
- Collaborate on “Family Fun” events and other whole-team initiatives
- Partner with the Coordinator of High School Youth Ministry on 6th–12th grade events
- Participate in the Midland Area Catholic Community Youth Ministry group to plan shared activities across partner parishes
- Recruit and direct student volunteers for quarterly Youth-Led Masses
- Promote diocesan events and opportunities for youth
What We’re Looking For
You are someone who…
- Is a follower of Jesus Christ and is committed to growing deeper in relationship with Him
- Is an active member of a Catholic parish
- Holds a degree or certification in Education, Religious Studies, or Theology — or has equivalent work experience
- Has experience coordinating and leading Faith Formation, ideally with students
- Communicates confidently and effectively in writing and in person, and is comfortable teaching both small and large groups
- Thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented ministry environment
- Possesses solid basic computer skills
- Is open to and enthusiastic about whole-community catechesis
- Respects cultural diversity and maintains confidentiality
- Is committed to ongoing personal and professional growth through classes, workshops, and professional associations
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Salary: $38,000 – $43,000 annually
